When someone is arrested in the Upper Florida Keys (Key Largo, Tavernier, Islamorada, or Layton), they will be transported to the Plantation Key Detention Center for processing.
The Plantation Key Detention Center is operated by the Monroe County Sheriffs Office and is located at 53 High Point Road, Plantation Key, Florida 33070.
The detention center is commonly referred to as the Plantation Key Jail or simply “PK” and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
Upon arrival at the Jail, the processing of an arrestee into the facility will take several hours. Once the arrestee is processed into the Jail, they may be eligible for bond out right away if the charges are accompanied with a set bail amount. This usually occurs for people arrested for active warrants, including violation of probation or failure to appear warrants.
If an inmate is detained for charges which do not have a set bail amount, the inmate will see a Judge within 24 hours for their “first appearance” hearing at which time a Judge will review the charges and either issue a bond amount for the inmate or hold him / her with no bond.
The Monroe County Bail Bonds main office is conveniently located at 10 High Point Road Suite A, Plantation Key, FL 33070, which is less than 0.1 miles from the Plantation Key Jail.
