Key West is an international tourist destination and attracts well more than a million visitors a year. Visitors and residents alike come from all around to enjoy the wonderful weather, Caribbean-like atmosphere, ample water sports, legendary fishing, and of course, to drink and party on the world-famous Duval Street.
Unfortunately, sometimes things get carried away, and those good times can turn into bad times rapidly. If an individual is placed under arrest by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Key West Police Department, or the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission within Key West city limits or any of surrounding unincorporated areas, they will be taken to the Monroe County Jail Main Detention Center for processing.
The Main Detention Center is commonly referred to as simply the “Key West Jail” and is actually located outside of Key West on neighboring Stock Island. The Key West Jail is the largest of the three detention facilities in Monroe County and has the longest processing times due to its size. Intake and Release times vary at this facility but are most commonly between four and seven hours.
The Key West Jail is located at:
5501 College Road
Stock Island, FL 33040
Once released your court proceedings will be held at the Freeman Jutice Center located at 302 Fleming Street, Key West, Florida, 33040.
